Leptictidium

A mammal that shows many specialized features: long legs, big tail, short arms that are adapted to hold food, and probably a short and mobile trunk. Leptictidium lived in Germany during the Paleogene, feeding on plants, insects and small vertebrates (as we could know from the gut content preserved in some fossils).

The model depicts L. tobieni, the largest species of the genus, measuring up to 90 cm in length (about 50 cm corresponding to the tail).

Cold porcelain, 1:2 scale.
